BESSEMER — Authorities in Bessemer are investigating two separate shootings that left three people dead over the weekend.
The first shooting took place on Saturday night in the 100 block of 10th Street South in Bessemer, leaving 31-year-old Demaio Lawrence Kirkland dead at the scene. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Kirkland sustained a gunshot wound injury around 6:43 p.m. and was pronounced dead at 8 p.m.
Bessemer police are investigating the case as a homicide.
The second shooting took place on Sunday night in the 10 block of 1st Street North in Bessemer, leaving one man and one woman dead. The male victim has been identified as 27-year-old Kamisha Malea Davis, of Bessemer. The female victim, 22, has been identified, but her identity is being held pending notification of family members.
Authorities say the two were shot at 7 p.m. Sunday night. Bessemer police are investigating the case as a homicide.
