BIRMINGHAM — One suspect is in custody following the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man in Birmingham.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, officers responded to the 1900 block of Druid Hill Drive on a call of a person shot on Monday morning. Officers arrived and discovered the victim, Travio Ollison, laying on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Ollison was transported to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. He was 19.
Police say the preliminary investigation indicates an altercation occurred among two individuals who were living together. During the dispute, both parties called the victim and the suspect to the location. A physical altercation ensued and Ollison was shot. The suspect was taken into custody and is being questioned by detectives.
