TRUSSVILLE — The postseason accolades continue rolling in for Hewitt-Trussville hoops star Amiya Payne.
The senior wing on Wednesday was named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Super All-State Girls Basketball Team, which is comprised of the top five players in Alabama, regardless of position or classification. Payne also landed the honor last year as a junior for the Huskies.
Her senior season was, perhaps, even more impressive as she collected 24.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game for head coach Tonya Hunter. The Middle Tennessee State signee was recently recognized as the 2021 ASWA Class 7A Player of the Year. Payne is the only Hewitt-Trussville player to accomplish that feat.
Her Super 5 placement leaves her in contention for the Miss Basketball crown, which will be presented to the top player in the state on April 10.
Payne is joined on the girls Super 5 roster by Reniya Kelly of Hoover, Sara Puckett of Muscle Shoals, Karoline Striplin of Geneva County and Randrea Wright of Carver-Birmingham.
