JASPER — A crash near Jasper early Sunday, April 11, 2021, claimed the life of one person.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said the person killed was attempting to elude police when the crash happened, around 12:45 a.m.
“The unidentified driver was killed when the 2001 Dodge Dakota he or she was driving at a high rate of speed, while attempting to elude Jasper Police, crossed the center line, collided head-on with a 2011 Ford Fiesta and caught fire,” Senior Trooper Gregory Corble said in a press release. “The driver of the Fiesta was air-lifted to an area hospital for serious physical injuries.”
The incident happened on Alabama 269 at the 28.1-mile marker, about 13 miles south of Jasper.
There is no word on the condition of the Ford Fiesta driver. The person killed has not been identified.
