BIRMINGHAM — A pregnant woman on Monday was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 59 in Birmingham.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 24-year-old Iderrika Patryce Callens, of Pleasant Grove.
According to the coroner’s office, Callens’ Toyota 4Runner overturned on the Interstate 59 North ramp in Birmingham shortly before 10 a.m. Monday. Her vehicle was found to be overturned and she had to be extricated from the vehicle.
The decedent was found to be pregnant and was transported by ambulance to UAB Hospital where the baby was delivered by emergency cesarean section, according to authorities.
The cause and circumstances surrounding the wreck are being investigated by the Birmingham Police Department.
