JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 46-year-old woman has been arrested for the murder of her longtime boyfriend in east Jefferson County.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a business on Pawnee Village Road at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Sunday to investigate a male who was found deceased. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of a male in his 60’s.
The victim has not been identified.
Police say the evidence suggests that a female, 46-year-old Tomeka Sims, was with the male victim at this location at around 10 p.m. Saturday when some type of disagreement occurred between the two. Sims is believed to have gotten into the male’s car and drove away, dragging the victim along the roadway before he fell to the ground.
JCSO says Sims returned in the vehicle and slowly approached the male while he was still laying on the ground, eventually rolling over him multiple times with the vehicle. She then left the scene and returned a second time to attempt to roll over the victim again. However, those efforts were unsuccessful, as the victim had rolled underneath a tractor trailer bed.
Sims was later placed in the Jefferson County Jail on the charge of murder with a bond of $50,000. Authorities believe she and the victim had been in a long-term dating relationship.
Jefferson County detectives will continue the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this murder.
