The final installment of the Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) high school baseball rankings have been released.
With the state playoffs set to begin this weekend, two local squads will enter the first round with top 10 rankings. In Class 7A, Hewitt-Trussville (26-3, 4-1) holds its spot at No. 1 for the third straight week, while Leeds falls three spots back to No. 6 in Class 5A.
The Huskies will wrap up Area 6 play with a home game against Spain Park Thursday night after locking up a playoff spot with a 4-2 win over the Jaguars on Tuesday. First-round pairings have not yet been determined in Class 7A.
As the Area 10 champion, Leeds (23-9) will play host to Area 12 runner-up Hayden in the opening round of the Class 5A playoffs. That three-game series is set to begin with a doubleheader on Friday.
Class 6A Springville (20-10, 4-2) begins its playoff journey with a road series at Area 15 champion Fort Payne. Games 1 and 2 are scheduled for Friday evening.
