UPDATE: The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a two-vehicle crash in Homewood on Monday night.
Homewood resident Robyn Nattel Herring, 42, was killed when the driver of a Nissan Juke collided with the Jeep Wrangler she was a passenger in around 6:39 p.m. The crash occurred on the Interstate 65 North exit ramp at Lakeshore Parkway, as the driver of the Nissan ran from Vestavia Hills police.

HOMEWOOD — Police are searching for a suspect who ran from police, crashed into and killed an innocent motorist, and fled the scene on Monday night in Homewood.
According to multiple reports, the chase started when a Vestavia Hills police officer conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 65 northbound near Alford Avenue around 6:35 p.m. Monday. During the stop, the suspect fled the scene and proceeded north on the interstate, according to police.
The suspect later took the Lakeshore exit and crashed into oncoming traffic, killing one person. The suspect fled on foot and remains at large. The Homewood Police Department is investigating the incident as a traffic homicide.
