HOMEWOOD — The search continues for the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run on Lakeshore Parkway in Homewood.
The incident occurred on Monday night at around 6:35 p.m. when a Vestavia Hills police officer conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 65 northbound near Alford Avenue. During the stop, the suspect, 28-year-old Pelham man Jordan Markice Ricks, fled the scene and proceeded north on the interstate. Ricks later took the Lakeshore exit and crashed into oncoming traffic, killing 42-year-old Homewood woman Robyn Nattel Herring. Ricks fled on foot and remains at large.
Ricks faces charges for murder and leaving the scene of an accident. Authorities continue searching for the Pelham man and ask anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to come forward.
The Homewood Police Department provided the following update Tuesday evening:
The Homewood Police Department is still actively searching for Jordan Markice Ricks, age 28 of Pelham, for the charges of Murder and Leaving the scene of an Accident. HPD is exhausting all available resources to capture Ricks. We ask if anyone knows the whereabouts of Ricks to please call Crime Stoppers at 205 254 7777 or Homewood Police at 205 332 6200. HPD will follow up on all leads that are reported to us.
