MONTGOMERY – The North-South Baseball and Softball All-Star Teams have been selected for the 2021 AHSAA North-South All-Star Sports Week, and a trio of local students have garnered invites.
The teams, comprised of 2022 rising seniors, were chosen by a special coaches committee from nominations received from AHSAA member school coaches.
“This is an outstanding group of baseball and softball standouts and coaches from our member schools,” said Director of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association, Jamie Lee. “We are proud to announce these teams and look forward to watching them in the All-Star competition set for the All-Star Sports Week this summer, especially after last summer’s all-star competition was canceled due to the COVID 19 virus concerns.”
The all-star games for baseball and softball will be played in late-July.
Tribune-area softballers listed on the North All-Star roster, include Springville catcher Makalyn Kyser and Hewitt-Trussville infielder Riley Tyree. The two will join 16 others on a talented North roster.

Representing the top-ranked Hewitt-Trussville baseball team as a member of the North squad is junior pitcher Riley Quick. The 6’5″ righty has been a starter on the Huskies pitching staff and a regular in the middle of coach Jeff Mauldin’s lineup.
In his first-career playoff action last Friday, Quick struck out nine batters and worked a complete game, as Hewitt beat Grissom 3-2 and eventually swept the first-round series.
