WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — Lightning caused a serious crash in Walton County, Florida, sending two people to the hospital.
Walton County Fire and Rescue responded to the crash on Interstate 10, just after 7:30 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2021.
Authorities said lightning struck the roadway, causing part of the road to break up and fly into the windshield of a truck. The chunk of pavement traveled through the truck and out of the back window.
Two people inside the vehicle were hurt and were taken to the hospital with injuries. There is no word on their condition.
WCFR warned of debris left on roadways after storms and urged drivers to use caution.
