PINSON — The Pinson City Council on Tuesday heard from local Miss Alabama hopeful Lacey Johnson.
The Class of 2018 Pinson Valley alum is set to vie for the crown next month in Birmingham.
After taking last year off due to COVID-19 concerns, Miss Alabama is back up for grabs in 2021. Johnson will compete alongside 38 others from June 10-12 at the historic Alabama Theater in Birmingham.
“I’ve known Lacey for several years and have grown very close with the family and I can’t think of a better example of a fine young lady from our community, we’re very proud,” said Mayor Joe Cochran during Tuesday night’s meeting.
Cochran says he plans on being in attendance next month when Johnson takes the stage in Birmingham.
Johnson, 20, will compete as Miss Wallace State, where she recently earned an associates degree. She now plans on pursuing her bachelors at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. As a dance performance major, Johnson plans on performing “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody” as her talent.
A christian, Johnson’s platform revolves around a church camp she has attended for the last six years at Palmerdale United Methodist Church.
“We bring in 64 children that are in the foster care system and tell them all about the love of God and how much they are loved and do our best to make a difference in their lives,” said Johnson of Royal Family for the Children.
