BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office identified a man killed in a crosswalk, early on Thursday, May 20, 2021.
Eric Dewayne Sewell, 43, of Birmingham, was a pedestrian crossing 20th Street in the Avenue I crosswalk when he was hit, according to Coroner Bill Yates. Sewell was pronounced dead on the scene at 12:28 a.m.
The cause of the wreck and the circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated by the Birmingham Police Department.
