BIRMINGHAM — A homicide investigation is underway following a Tuesday-night shooting in Birmingham.
According to authorities, shots were fired at approximately 9:35 p.m. at 1083 Villa Rica Court. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 36-year-old Stanley Ray Hopson, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:57 p.m. Tuesday.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates says the Birmingham man sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting as a homicide.
