Head coach Taylor Burt and her top-ranked Huskies stepped under the lights for a special segment of Tribune Sports Live. The state championship episode, hosted by Zack Steele and Tribune sports editor Erik Harris, aired live from Courtesy Buick GMC in Trussville.
Burt and her senior third baseman Jenna Lord, the state tournament MVP, both clipped on the microphone to share their thoughts from a remarkable season that ended last Friday night with a 16-4 title game victory over No. 2 Fairhope in Oxford’s Choccolocco Park. The state-clinching win improved Hewitt-Trussville to 49-3-1 and bolstered a resume which already included an Area 6 championship and an East Central Regional championship.
