IRONDALE — The Irondale Police Department released the cause of death for two men found dead at an Irondale car dealership on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.
Eric Michael Simonson, 47, of Center Point, and David Rennix McHugh, 34, of Hoover, were found in a storage room at EchoPark Automotive on Tom Williams Way in Irondale.
“According to the Coroner/Medical Examiner report, the cause of death for Eric Simonson (47 years old, Center Point) is methamphetamine and fentanyl toxicity,” said Sgt. Michael Mangina, with Irondale Police. “According to the Coroner/Medical Examiner report, the cause of death for David McHugh (34 years old, Hoover) is fentanyl toxicity.”
Mangina said the manner of death for both men was listed as accidental.
They were both contracted IT technicians working at the dealership. A coworker found them in the IT work area.
