GRAYSVILLE — A 55-year-old female motorcycle passenger was killed Wednesday on Interstate 22 in northern Jefferson County.
The decedent was the passenger of a motorcycle traveling west on Interstate 22 near mile marker 88, according to a report from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. Authorities say the decedent has been identified, but family has not yet been notified of the death.
For unknown reasons, the driver of the motorcycle lost control and wrecked along the grass shoulder of the interstate around 12:10 p.m. Wednesday.
Authorities say the driver and decedent were transported by paramedics to UAB Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The passenger was pronounced dead at 12:59 p.m.
The cause and circumstances surrounding the wreck are being investigated by the Alabama Law enforcement Agency – State Troopers.
