BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a freight train and a car.
David Eugene Hester, 65, of Midfield, was killed on Monday, July 5, near the intersection of Pearson Avenue Southwest and 15th Street Southwest.
Hester was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment just after 9 p.m. He was pronounced dead at 9:53 p.m.
The day before, Marquis Demetruis Cottingham, 39, of Birmingham, was killed while attempting to beat a train in the 1500 block Jefferson Avenue Southwest. Cottingham was pronounced dead on the scene.
