TRUSSVILLE — The Hewitt-Trussville High School Wind Ensemble will perform at a huge event in Atlanta in March of 2022.
HTHS Band Director Mike Guzman said the opportunity for the ensemble to perform at the All Southeastern Regional Concert Festival is an honor.
“What this means is that Bands of America – Music for all is a giant organization that basically spans the whole country and the top band programs in the country,” said Guzman.
HTHS is one of 12 bands that was selected for the Southeastern Regional portion. Assistant Band Director A.J. Adair sent a letter to parents about the accomplishment.
“This is indeed an honor and a testament to the hard work and talents of our students,” Adair wrote. “We are so excited and proud for this opportunity, as it is the first time a concert ensemble at HTHS has been invited to perform at an event of this caliber.”
“This is our first time onto the national end of things,” Guzman added. “So, it’s a huge thing for our program because they will be on the national stage.”
The event will also give band members exposure to some of the best band directors in the country.
“There’s going to be people in Michigan, in the band world, trying to figure out where Trussville, Alabama is,” Guzman said. “So, it’s pretty cool on multiple levels.”
