WALKER COUNTY — A two-vehicle crash has claimed the lives of two individuals from Tennessee.
The accident occurred at approximately 3 p.m. Thursday, July 8 and resulted in the deaths of Antonio “Amber” Couch, 25, and passenger Christian Barfield, 24. Police say the crash took place on Interstate 22 at the 39 mile marker, approximately four miles west of Carbon Hill.
According to authorities, a 2008 Honda Civic at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle, which crossed the median and struck a 2012 GMC Acadia. Both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
