UPDATE: The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a Birmingham homicide.
The incident occurred on Saturday, July 10, 2021 in the 4400 block of Willard Avenue, and resulted in the shooting death of 23-year-old Kadarius Khalil Kyneard, of Birmingham.

BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation after an exchange of gunfire broke out in Birmingham Saturday night.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and the victim was pronounced deceased. The victim’s identity will be released upon notification of next of kin.
Authorities say two additional wounded victims later arrived at Fire Station 25 and were transported to UAB Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates there were multiple rounds of gunfire exchanged during the incident. No suspects are in custody. Anyone with knowledge of the shooting is asked to contact the department’s homicide unit at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
