From The Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — Ollie’s Bargain Outlet in the Trussville Shopping Center will open on August 26 and has announced that it is now hiring staff in anticipation of that date.
Ollie’s, a large retail chain that sells closeout merchandise and excess inventory, is one of three businesses that will occupy the site of the former Kmart location, as announced earlier this year. The company has around 395 stores that carry items from departments including housewares, sporting goods, flooring and food. Those items are purchased as closeouts, overstocks, package changes, manufacturer refurbished goods and irregulars.
The Trussville location is the fourth Ollie’s location in the Birmingham metro area.
Tractor Supply Co. will also open on the garden side of the former Kmart building on November 20, 2021, while Crunch Fitness will take the remaining space. No opening date has been announced for Crunch Fitness.
Also hiring: Ashley Outlet Homestore in the same shopping center. The outlet store is the first of its kind in the Birmingham area, and may supply as many as 14-16 employment opportunities.
