UPDATE: Nashville police release video of shooting of Trussville man

NASHVILLE — A Trussville man was shot and killed by police officers in Nashville early Wednesday morning, according to a report by the Tennessean.
Police have only identified him as a 31-year-old Trussville man.
Metro Nashville Police Department spokesperson Don Aaron told the newspaper that a canine officer was conducting business safety checks when he spotted a vehicle with Alabama plates in the 5000 block of Charlotte Avenue near the Metro Nashville Police Department west precinct.
Aaron said the officer saw a man in the vehicle with a knife and called for backup, just after 5 a.m. When other officers arrived and began to engage the man he exited the vehicle and charged the officers with the knife. The officers shot the man and rendered medical aid.
He was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
According to Aaron, officers are reviewing bodycam footage of the incident and plan to release the video later today.
According to the Tennessean, this is the seventh person shot by Nashville police in 2021. Five of those who were shot have died.
