JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 14-year-old male student was stabbed at McAdory High School on Thursday, according to a letter from school principal Gary Bowden.
Bowden notified parents that the incident occurred at 11:30 a.m. He said a 14-year-old female was taken into custody by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
“One of our students was stabbed around 11:30 am today,” Bowden said. “The alleged aggressor was taken into custody quickly.”
Bowden said he could not disclose further details, but wanted parents to hear about the incident from him and wanted public know the situation was handled quickly.
“I also want to point out that our protocols were followed in this situation,” Bowden said. “The campus was secured and school resource officers had the individual believed to be responsible in custody within a matter of minutes. The injured student also quickly received medical care. Please continue to pray for a speedy recovery.”
School counselors have been made a available any students or staff who need to discuss the situation.
