BIRMINGHAM — Jefferson County Coroner William Yates has identified the victim of a Birmingham shooting.
Hernando Retion McJunkins, 39, of Birmingham, was killed during an altercation in the early morning hours of August 17, 2021. According to police reports, McJunkins was shot around 2:30 a.m. on the 1300 block of 3rd Avenue North in Birmingham. He was transported to an area hospital, where he was declared dead just before 3 a.m.
An investigation into McJunkins’ death is being carried out by the Birmingham Police Department.
