LEEDS — The community pep rally scheduled here Thursday evening has been canceled due to inclement weather. The event was to honor and cheer on the Leeds Green Wave football team a day before they face off against Sylacauga High School to begin the 2021 season.
Heavy rains hit most of central Alabama Thursday, including east Birmingham and all the way into St. Clair County, resulting in the National Weather Service issuing a flood advisory for parts of the area until 5 p.m. Flash flood warnings were in place for all or parts of Calhoun, Cleburne, Pickens, Clay, Autauga, Perry, Dallas and Tuscaloosa counties as well.
Wet weather is expected through Friday, but central Alabama should experience drier weather by Saturday, the NWS stated.
