CALHOUN COUNTY — A woman was killed in a two vehicle crash in Calhoun County on Friday morning, according to Senior Trooper Greg Corble.
“Emily Carter, 29, of Jacksonville, was killed when the 2005 Ford Mustang in which she was a passenger was struck from behind at a high rate of speed by a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Ryan Carstarphen, 21, of Montgomery,” Corble said. “Both occupants of the Mustang were transported by air to UAB Hospital. Carter later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by the hospital staff.”
The driver of the Mustang has been identified as Terrence Young, 36, of Ohatchee. Young was transported by air to UAB Hospital. No further update on his injuries is available.
Corble said the crash occurred five miles south of Glencoe on U.S. 431, approximately at the 246 mile marker.
No further information is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
