BLOUNT COUNTY — A defensive lineman for the UAB Blazers has been arrested and charged with domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend.
Blount County Jail records show that Tylan Kiere Jones, 21, was booked on Wednesday night, September 8, 2021, on a charge of third-degree domestic violence, a misdemeanor.
Jones is being held for 24 hours with no bond, due to the nature of the charge. After his initial appearance, a judge may set bond.
The Blount County Sheriff’s Office reports that Jones is accused of multiple acts of physical abuse against his ex-girlfriend, a 21-year-old Blount County woman.
The victim said she dated Jones for four months. The pair have since broken up, and she has a temporary restraining order against him.
The victim claims that Jones has choked, hit and thrown her onto the floor over the past month, kicked her in the head while wearing boots, as well as beating both of their dogs to the point where the dogs could not move.
She also claims that Jones smothered her with a pillow and threw a kitchen knife at her, which pierced her skin, then threatened her with death if she told the police.
Jones joined the Blazers in 2020 as a junior.
