SPRINGVILLE — Nothing came easy here on Friday night for the Springville Tigers, as region foe Fort Payne came to town and took a 27-14 victory to drop Springville to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in Region play.
Fort Payne pulled away late, moving out to a 27-7 lead in the fourth quarter after Darrell D. Prater ran in a 2-yard touchdown with about five minutes left. Quarterback Asa Morrison got the Tigers closer when he scored on a touchdown run with a little over 3 minutes to go. The PAT made it 27-14, but time was running down.
That’s when Fort Payne’s Alex Akins scampered all the way down to the Springville 31-yard line to effectively ice the game for the Wildcats.
Springville next travels to Scottsboro for a region game next Friday, September 17, 2021.
