LEEDS — A single-vehicle accident has claimed the life of a motorist just off of I-20 here late Monday morning.
According to Leeds Police Chief Jim Atkinson, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division responded to a single-vehicle accident heading eastbound on I-20.
The car was reportedly a mid-size van with one occupant inside and came to rest behind the Buc-ee’s convenience store. Chief Atkinson says that the accident took place around 11:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The occupant was said to have been pronounced dead at the scene.
Law enforcement is unsure of the cause of the accident and is continuing to investigate. The driver has yet to be identified.
