HEFLIN — Authorities here are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman whose body was discovered more than 30 years ago.
Employees of a logging company found the remains of a woman in a wooded area off of Evans Bridge Road on February 3, 1990. Police say that because of the skeletal state of the remains, they believe she could have gone missing between 1988 and 1989. The woman was between 5-feet to 5-4 tall, and may have weighed between 100-120 pounds. She wore a size 4 in clothes and was reportedly found wearing a white button-up blouse.
Police say she had brown, shoulder-length straight hair and was wearing a retainer on her lower teeth.
Captain Scott Bonner at the Heflin Police Department requested that anyone who believes they have information on the case email hpdtipline@cityofheflin.org.
