CENTER POINT — A suspect fleeing police here has been killed in a vehicular accident.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says the chase began in Trussville, involving a motorcycle rider in the city. Once the suspect ran from Trussville Police, the TPD officers broke off pursuit, citing safety concerns for other drivers and passengers on the road.
However, the JCSO continued to monitor the speeding motorcycle through its helicopter. The pursuit ended in Center Point when deputies report the suspect ran a red light on Center Point Parkway at 23rd Avenue NE and was struck by another vehicle. It is unclear if he was being chased by car or simply monitored through the air at the time of the accident. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
