BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) has identified the hit-and-run victim on Interstate-59 South near the Roebuck Parkway Exit.
Williams was reportedly employed with a crew that was contracted to clean litter from the interstate.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
After leaving the scene, the female driver of the “white FedEx van” was located by police in the 200 block of Gadsden Highway, and officers executed a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver was then transported to a local area hospital for a medical evaluation. The driver is in the custody of BPD Hit & Run investigators.
