MONTGOMERY — After peaking at 2,890 Covid-19 related hospitalizations on Sept. 1, Alabama’s numbers have fallen by almost half to 1,470 during the most recent surge of cases. That is a 49% drop in just under four weeks.
The number of vaccinated, partially vaccinated and unvaccinated is unclear based on the numbers released by AHA. Numbers released today indicated 85% were unvaccinated, 15% were fully vaccinated and 3% were partially vaccinated for a total of 103%. A request for clarification did not receive a response by the time of publication.
Despite the rapid decline in Covid-19 related patients, ICU units remain near capacity with 1,516 of 1,535 beds occupied. Covid patients accounted for 36% of the occupancy.
Twelve pregnant women were currently admitted with two of those in ICU and one on a ventilator.
