TRUSSVILLE — Trussville Police Department responded to an accident involving an 18-wheeler at the intersection of Poplar Street, North Chalkville Road, and Rockridge Avenue on Thursday, September 30.
According to Trussville Police Chief Eric Rush, the 18-wheeler struck and broke a utility pole, causing the traffic lights in that intersection to hang low enough to prevent traffic from passing through.
Rush stated that the northbound lane had been closed, and traffic traveling through that area was being diverted down Poplar Street toward Trussville Clay Road. Alabama Power has been notified of the low-hanging traffic light and is responding to the scene.
There is no current estimate for reopening the intersection.
At this time their no reports of injuries.
