TRUSSVILLE — Trussville Police Department will sport new pink badges for October. They’ll be pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This will be the first year of the pink badges, and Police Chief Eric Rush is proud that his department can do this to show their support to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Rush explained that breast cancer awareness holds a special place in his heart because his sister is currently battling breast cancer.
“I wanted to do something as a whole department to support those that are currently fighting breast cancer, those that have survived, and also those that unfortunately didn’t survive the disease, Rush said. “It’s kind of near to my heart because my sister is currently fighting breast cancer; she’s in the last stages of radiation treatment, so hopefully, we’re all praying that she’s going to be fine.”
Rush said the goal is to wear the pink badges every October. Officers in the department proudly rep their pink badge understanding the significance and awareness to the community (real men wear pink).
