BESSEMER — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a homicide shooting at the 1000 block of 6th Avenue North on Monday, October 11.
According to the Coroner’s report, 27-year-old Kealand Amad Pickens of Bessemer was killed after an argument about the Texas A&M vs. Alabama game led to a shooting around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 9. Pickens was taken to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:23 a.m. on Sunday, October 10.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
The shooting is being investigated as a homicide; therefore, all questions regarding the circumstances surrounding the death should be made to the Bessemer Police Department.
