MIDFIELD — A Brighton man was shot to death in Midfield during the sale of a lawnmower around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 9.
According to reports, first responders were called to the 600 block of 11th Avenue in Midfield on a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a utility pole at 5:31 p.m. on Saturday, October 9. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 35-year-old Christopher James Jones, who was killed trying to sell a lawnmower to someone else. There was an argument over the payment, and that’s when the shooting happened.
Jones was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:42 p.m.
The shooting is being investigated as a homicide; therefore, all questions regarding the circumstances surrounding the death should be made to the Midfield Police Department.
