CENTER POINT — The Eagles’ 47-6 win over Hayden last week improved Center Point to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in Class 5A, Region 6 — and needing one more win either this week against St. Clair County or next week against Corner — to become the first school’s senior class this century to reach the playoffs all four years in high school.
Quarterback Jabari Collier was 7-of-11 passing for 116 yards and two TDs and tailback Troy Bruce rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries for the Eagles of Coach George Bates.
Receiver Harold Holloman also had four catches for 111 yards and two scores. The last time a senior class clinched four straight football playoff berths was the Class of 2000.
The Eagles’ current seniors could become the first senior class in the 21st Century to accomplish the feat and just the ninth in school history with a region win in either game.
