TRUSSVILLE – The American Legion SSG Michael W Hosey Post 205, Clay-Trussville, announced they are sponsoring the National Wreaths Across America day in Trussville at Jefferson Memorial Gardens on December 18, 2o21 beginning at 11 a.m. to honor the men and women he gave their life for our freedom.
Wreaths Across America is a national project that coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at over 2,500 locations across the United States. The mission is to place a wreath on every veteran’s grave throughout the nation.
When a volunteer places a wreath on a veteran’s grave on National Wreaths Across America Day, they are encouraged to speak that veteran’s name aloud, thank them for their service and sacrifice, and reflect on that person and their life.
Boy Scouts and other service organizations are performing a special ceremony during the event. The cost of each Wreath is $15, and if you would like to purchase one or more wreaths in honor of a loved one(s), contact George Harding or John Griscom at pappageorgio10@gmail.com, they will come by and collect your donation. You can also donate on the Wreaths Across America website.
The goal is to reach 4,000 wreaths to cover all the veteran’s graves at Jefferson Memorial Gardens; so far, 86 wreaths have been sponsored for the event.
“They say that every Veteran dies two deaths, one when they take their last breath, the other when they stop being remembered,” Harding said.
The American Legion requests that you help cover every grave so we can honor these heroes.
