BESSEMER — An Alabama inmate has died from what authorities are calling natural causes.
Shelton Lorenz Foster, 68, who was incarcerated at William Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer, was being treated in the prison infirmary for multiple significant natural diseases when he was transferred on October 13, 2021, to UAB Hospital for additional treatment.
According to a release from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Foster was serving a life sentence from a 2018 conviction for murder out of Covington County.
The Alabama Department of Corrections – Intelligence and Investigations Division is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
