BESSEMER — An Alabama inmate has died from what authorities are calling natural causes.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Michael Wayne George, who was incarcerated at William Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer, George was found unresponsive laying on his bed in the prison infirmary, where he was being treated for multiple significant natural diseases.
Georgewas pronounced dead by the prison’s medical staff at 10:12 a.m. on Thursday, November 4. The circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated by the Alabama Department of Corrections — Intelligence & Investigations
Reports state George was serving a life sentence for a 2000 murder conviction out of Jefferson County.
