PLEASANT GROVE — Leeds couldn’t get anything going Friday night, November 12, 2021, getting blown out by Pleasant Grove 35-0 in the second round of the AHSAA 5A playoffs.
There were flashes of the Green Wave that won 10 games this season, but they were few and far between, as Leeds totaled only 134 yards of total offense against the Spartans.
Rametrius Yelverton couldn’t find room. The senior running back finished his final high school game with 13 carries for 34 yards.
And it wasn’t just Yelverton who had trouble. Jarod Latta was sacked five times, and went 3-for-16 passing for 23 yards. The Green Wave was able to get into Pleasant Grove territory on their first drive, but failed to cross the 50 on their next eight possessions.
Defensively, Cody Saulisbury recovered a fumble early and Tanner Chambers had an interception.
Leeds’ best plays came on special teams, with a pair of punts that totaled 39 yards and kept the Green Wave offense on the field early. But it was tough sledding for Leeds all night, as they went 2-for-5 on fourth downs, and 2-of-14 on third downs.
Leeds finishes the season 10-2, losing two of their final three games of the season.
Pleasant Grove travels to Center Point to face the Eagles, who beat Ramsay 9-0 to make the 5A quarterfinals.
