SHELBY COUNTY — A Shelby County 4-year-old avoids serious injury after finding a gun and pulling the trigger just after 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 14.
According to Carol Robinson at AL.com, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and North Shelby fire medics responded to a home on Cahaba Valley Trace on a report of a child had been shot, but it was later determined that the recoil, or kickback, actually hit the child in the face, causing a bloody nose.
Reportedly the child with at a gathering at another family’s home when he found a handgun and fired the gun.
The child did not require transport to a hospital, and DHR will be notified, which is standard procedure.
