CENTER POINT — Center Point man shot during a burglary on Tuesday, November 16, at approximately 10:52 a.m.
According to the Jefferson Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the 2500 block of 6th Street Northeast on a report of a homeowner being shot by an intruder. The 64-year-old homeowner reported that he arrived home and heard noises coming from downstairs and that when he went downstairs, he encountered a burglar in his home. The burglar was armed with a pistol and fired a shot striking the homeowner.
The victim was transported to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The burglar then fled the scene. Evidence was recovered on the scene, and deputies are currently searching for the offender.
