TRUSSVILLE — Trussville Police arrested a South Carolina man for possession of a forged instrument on Wednesday, November 18, at approximately 1:30 p.m.
According to the Trussville Police Department, the Trussville Police Department was dispatched to Hobby Lobby on reports of a person attempting to pass counterfeit currency. Officers arrested Bryant Lymont Powell of South Carolina for attempting to use a counterfeit $50 bill while making a small purchase. Hobby Lobby used counterfeit detection tools to determine the currency’s validity.
Powell was arrested and charged with possession of a forged instrument first degree.
The felony warrant was obtained through the Jefferson County District Attorneys’ Office. Powell will be transferred to the Jefferson County jail, where his bond has been set at $10,000.
