TRUSSVILLE — The Hewitt-Trussville cheerleaders competition team has qualified for state championships and received bids for national competition as well.
The team placed second and third in both days of competitions against stiff competition at the Birmingham Crossplex on November 9.
The State Finals are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, December 6, 2021 at the Birmingham Crossplex and teams will compete in three categories.
Traditional Routine format is a maximum time of 2 minutes and 30 seconds with 1 minute and 30 seconds allowed to perform to music.
The Game Day format finals will be the same as regionals: A combination of band chant, a situational sideline led by a cue from the announcer which moves into the crowd leading section and ending with your fight song. Teams are permitted, but not required, to use camp material to demonstrate the game day environment at their school. With all elements combined, the Game Day Routine cannot exceed a 3-minute time limit. Please follow skill restrictions below.
All teams will begin with a BAND CHANT followed by an offensive or defensive cue led by the announcer in which the teams will answer definitively with their offensive or defensive sideline. This will lead into their choice of CROWD LEADING section. All teams will end with their FIGHT SONG. The fight song should represent the traditional fight song your school has always done at games. Teams can incorporate up to three consecutive 8-counts of crowd effective stunts, tumbling, and/or jumps and can include spirit raising props to enhance the overall effect. For teams that do not have an official fight song, it is recommended to use a second selection of band chant music.
