BLOUNT COUNTY — Hundreds of FedEx packages dumped in a ravine on private property in Blount County have been retrieved by the company which told CNN they were conducting a review into the matter.
Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon estimate 300 to 400 packages had been tossed into the ravine. FedEx sent multiple workers and trucks to the site on Thanksgiving Day to gather the packages. Moon announced that the workers were on location just after 7 a.m.
CNN reported that FedEx said security of customers’ shipments is a top priority and that they are committed to treating customers’ packages with the utmost care.
“We are taking steps to recover and transport the affected packages as quickly as possible,” the statement to CNN said. “In addition to cooperating with law enforcement, we are conducting a review of this situation and will take the appropriate action.”
