BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identifies a Birmingham man killed in Birmingham’s deadly weekend.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Terrell Malik Young, 24, sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault inside a private residence. North Precinct officers were dispatched to the residence in the 3500 block of 17th Avenue North on a report of a person shot at approximately 7:55 a.m. Officers arrived on the scene and located two males inside a residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFR) personnel arrived on the scene; they pronounced one of the males deceased. BFR transported the second male to a local- area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“The preliminary investigation suggests multiple individuals were inside of the residence prior to shots being fired inside of the residence,” Birmingham Police Truman Fitzgerald said. “Officers have detained the multiple occupants for questioning. Detectives will interview the occupants; we will provide subsequent updates.”
