BIRMINGHAM — A woman sustained critical injuries after being shot on Monday, December 6, around 5 p.m.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s office, a 31-year-old Montevallo woman who was killed after being shot marks the city’s seventh homicide since the weekend. The victim sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault on a public roadway in the 800 block of 44th Street North.
The victim was taken to UAB Hospital, where she later died of her injuries.
Jefferson County Coroner William Yates says the woman has been positively identified, but the family has not yet been notified of the death.
No arrests have been made in connection to the homicide.
